Dorset Driver Gold

Posted: 8 November 2016

Dorset Driver Gold has been specially designed for drivers aged 65 years or over and is run by the award winning SafeWise charity using Driving Standards Agency (DSA) Approved Driving Instructors (ADIs) in its delivery.

Dorset Driver Gold offers both practical and theory sessions:

  • The theory sessions include judging speed and distance, negotiating roundabouts, traffic lights and junctions. A session costs £10, is held for up to 20 people and lasts up to three hours including refreshments.
  • The practical sessions are held on a one-to-one basis using the driver’s own car, it lasts up to one and a half hours and costs £45. The ADI will assess the way a driver deals with various traffic situations on the road and then will make recommendations with the aim of enhancing current skills. The sessions are informal and are not a test so there is no pass or fail element*

The session fees cover the cost of the ADIs to run the sessions and a small contribution is made towards the charity’s administration costs. If both sessions are booked a £5 discount will be applied bringing the cost down to £50.
